What was Vatican II Really About?
A Talk by Marcellino D'Ambrosio, Ph.D.
The Second Vatican Council was a landmark in the history of the Catholic Church.
The ironic thing about the Council, however, is that very often neither admirers or detractors have extensive, first hand knowledge of the documents of the council and their background.
Having done his Ph.D. dissertation on Henri de Lubac, one of the leading theological experts present at the council, Dr. D'Ambrosio is uncommonly qualified to dispel the myths and open up to clergy and laity alike what Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI and the Council fathers were really trying to achieve regarding liturgical renewal, ecumenism, evangelization, and the overall revitalization of the Church.
Humorous anecdotes about John XXIII as well as stories of the conflicts and controversies of the council keep all listeners, regardless of education, riveted throughout.
